Below we highlight some neighborhoods and properties located within one to five stops of Shibuya, which you can rent for about $550 (¥62,000) or less a month.

One thing to note is that when you are looking for apartments in Japan, be aware of initial move-in costs, which may be much higher than in your home country. Ikejiri Ohashi shopping street (shoutengai).

Location: Ikejiri-Ohashi Station is a little hidden gem of a neighborhood, located just one stop from Shibuya on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi line. It’s also walkable to upscale Naka Meguro and Daikanyama, just to the southeast. The neighborhood itself is known locally for its up-and-coming coffee house scene (notably Bubbles Chill, pictured in the lead photo), small quirky restaurants, and not bad shopping at all (including a branch of Don Quijote). Live here if you want the convenience of living near Shibuya, without paying sky high rent.
